Festival Volunteer Coordinator

b-side Festival is looking for a freelance Volunteer Coordinator

We need an enthusiastic and committed Volunteer Coordinator to work with the b-side Festival team on delivery of the volunteer programme for b-side festival on the Isle of Portland, Dorset in September 2014.

The contract will be for the period between June and end of September 2014.

Fixed fee: £2000

Job Description:

  • Lead on the recruitment and coordination of a team of Festival volunteers.
  • Act as the primary contact for all volunteers and volunteer enquiries
  • Produce a b-side volunteer database
  • Plan and manage volunteer expenses budget, managing petty cash, collating and processing all necessary paperwork i.e. receipts and expense claims
  • Identify and organise any training necessary for volunteers
  • Organise and deliver face to face volunteer briefings inc Health & Safety, audience interaction and collection of audience data
  • Produce and manage a detailed festival volunteer schedule and rota
  • Be on site to coordinate and manage volunteers during Festival period Sept 5th – 14th
  • Produce and distribute volunteer information packs before the festival
  • Work to ensure effective and safe working practices are implemented at all times in line with b-side policies

Person Specification:

  • Enthusiastic with the ability to enthuse others too
  • Good organisational and office skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Committed
  • Interested in culture
  • Registered as self-employed
  • Car driver preferred but not essential
  • Own laptop / computer
  • Currently living in Dorset
  • Able to work flexible and some unsociable hours including weekends, especially during September 2nd – 16th  (festival period)

Other

  • The appointed person can work from the b-side office in Dorchester and/or from home.
