YOUNG PERSON BURSARY ARTIST - YPBA

This year b-side is partnering with a range of South West based arts organisations and educational bodies to offer what is likely to be the Bursary Artist's first commission. The YPBA Scheme is there to support young artists to develop and strengthen their artist practice as well as guide our young artists from a educational context into a real life, professional context.

Jessie Wybrew has been selected as the b-side and Beaminster School YPBA. Jessie will receive mentoring and practical advice from both Beaminster School and a member of the b-side team. She will also get the opportunity to be a part of b-side Festival 2018.

About Jessie

"The natural world and environment around me often influences my work. My creative process is all about connecting with nature and the subject that I’m painting. Often producing work that is mixed media, exploring different materials and surfaces.

Currently I’m studying an art foundation at Exeter school of art. Throughout this course I have been able to link lots of my work to nature, most recently working on a project titled ‘regeneration’ where I focused on the regeneration of plants.

Previously to studying at Exeter I studied for my A-levels at Beaminster School taking art, photography, and product design. When studying here I was able to explore many new processes and techniques such as analog film photography, digital image manipulation and studio photography. I was also able to experiment working on large scale canvases producing a mixed media landscape painting."
