Lily Lloyd

YOUNG PERSON BURSARY ARTIST - YPBA

This year b-side is partnering with a range of South West based arts organisations and educational bodies to offer what is likely to be the Bursary Artist's first commission. The YPBA Scheme is there to support young artists to develop and strengthen their artist practice as well as guide our young artists from a educational context into a real life, professional context.

Lily Lloyd has been selected as the b-side and Canford School YPBA. Lily will receive mentoring and practical advice from both the Canford School and b-side team. She will also get the opportunity to be a part of b-side Festival 2018.

About Lily

Lily is studying Pre U art, Religious studies and English at Canford School in Wimborne, Dorset. She spends a lot of time on Portland, as her family owns a house in Easton. For her Pre U art course, she has produced films, sculptures, photographs, resin work and drawings. Over the past 18 months, Lily has been making work focused around Portland. The work, mostly photography and short films, has responded to the community, landscape and buildings of the island. As a recent Portland inhabitant, Lily has begun to understand more about the history, community, function and quirks of Portland, adding to the depth of her work. After a spending time in Australia, she plans to study BA photography at Falmouth University.
