Brutal Solitude
Photographs by Brendan Buesnel
20 May – 10 June
Outpost, Portland
Dorset based photographer Brendan Buesnel will be exhibiting his latest series of landscape photographs at b-side’s Outpost in May.
Brendan was commissioned by b-side in 2016 to take a series of images that reflect the unique character of Dorset’s intriguing Island; many of his images were used in the b-side Festival catalogue, but only now can be seen together as a collection.
"It is the visual nature and atmosphere of Portland that inspired ‘Brutal Solitude’. Combining the unforgiving form of Portland stone, unpredictable weather and battered coastline, with the sanctuary, peace and beauty of a sea-bound isle. Working on the island with b-side has been a welcome opportunity, enabling me to be immersed in the elements whilst exploring the landscape and architecture through my love of photography”
Launching during the start of Artwey’s Open for Art trail, we hope many of Portland’s residents as well as visitors will come to Outpost and see Portland’s unique, historical and often surprising sites captured by Brendan. All work is for sale so admirers can take a bit of Portland magic back home too.
If you would like to find put more about Brendan’s work he will be giving an Artist’s talk at Outpost on 25 May at 7pm, tickets are free but booking is recommended.
