Platform Bursary Programme 2021

A development opportunity for artists

Platform bursaries are aimed at emerging visual artists or established artists interested in exploring new ways of working in a site-responsive/temporary/outdoor context. b-side is working in partnership with Counterpoints Arts, Dorset Visual Arts and Somerset Artworks to fund and provide support and opportunities for three artists in 2020.

Each artist received £500 to experiment and create work, had access to mentoring from b-side and the partner organisation and an opportunity to exhibit new work at b-side Festival 2021.

2021 Platform Bursary Recipients were:

Daniela Nofal, Ilona Skladzien and Lotte Scott.

I was nudged to apply for a bursary because of the mentoring element to the programme and have found that incredibly helpful and beneficial. It happened at a moment where I’ve begun exploring new directions for making work, so to have the support, encouragement and professionalism of b-side has been really
significant"
