It's The Queen's Platinum Jubilee and to mark this milestone we have been working with Island Community Action to help Portland residents create some very special mementos. Over the next few months, we'll be producing 100's of unique souvenir ceramic plates, cups and saucers AND we need your help.
Souvenirs of Place and Love invites Portland residents to create a one-off memento that celebrates a cherished object or photo or special someone. It could be a self-portrait, a special person or moment from the past, a treasured object or even Grandad’s favourite tie.
Photographers Richard Tomlinson and Gina Bolt will be photographing special objects that have a story to tell and enabling residents to take their own self portrait too. We hope to have 100's of images that will be transformed into unique Portland Jubilee plates, saucers, cups or milk jugs, which will be exhibited across the Island. Sound artist Jo Tyler will also be recording the stories of the objects and the people that take part and creating a digital sound archive of residents' treasures and special moments.
